Pre-School Room

Pre-school 3 – 4yrs

The Pre-School is for children over the age of three years old. This room is on the same level as the toddler room.

Evidence from research shows that high quality pre-school provision during the foundation years has a lasting impact on children’s future learning. Our pre-school at Wellybobs provides those “high quality” elements which come together to create a rich learning environment and one in which children can thrive.

The purpose-built space provides children with a beautiful bright and spacious room with free-flow access to the outdoors as well as resources, equipment and materials to stimulate and support early learning, creativity and curiosity. By focusing on the children’s own interests and ideas learning is based on the EYFS.

In the pre-school room the resources are set out for children to access so they become independent learners and cover all 7 areas od the EYFS. Parents are children’s first educators therefore we aim to work with parents on their child’s learning & development. We involve parents by sharing games and books for them to take home and enjoy with their child.

Being able to enjoy an outdoor curriculum, learning about keeping healthy, taking trips out to the local community, having links with local primary schools, helping children have a real sense of belonging and supporting them to test their ideas and theories and understanding is a key part of what we can offer your child at Wellybobs Day Nursery.

 Pre-school Routine

The routine of the room is set out much like school so the children can get a better understanding of what school will be like. When the children arrive at the Nursery they sit with the rest of the group and have register, the staff will sit with them and talk as a whole group; this gives the children time to talk openly in front of others helping develop their confidence in public speaking and communicating with others.

Throughout their day we offer challenging and age appropriate play experiences, our Staff are always on hand to support & teach child, but the children are expected to lead the activities themselves and are also encouraged with support to prepare their own snacks/breakfast and pour their own drinks; this supports the children in becoming confident and capable learners whilst embracing their individual wants and needs, and helps prepare them for a school environment.

Focused activities are planned daily to ensure each child reaches their full potential and to further develop your child’s independence we have weekly PE sessions where your child will get themselves changed ready to join in for PE.

Once again at the end of each session the children sit and have circle time for them to talk about what they have done in the session and describe any pictures or work they have produced. We have strong links with the local schools and have provisions in place to support your child with this future transition. Please let us know which school your child will be attending.
